The Federal Government has approved an increase in various allowances for public service officers.
The allowances affected by this review include Duty Tour Allowance, transport, uniform, and overtime allowances.
This decision was finalized during the 46th National Council on Establishment (NCE) meeting, presided over by the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Didi Walson-Jack.
The NCE, the highest decision-making body for public service matters, is chaired by the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation and comprises the Heads of Service from all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
A report obtained by our correspondent revealed that the meeting was preceded by a two-day technical session led by the Permanent Secretary of the Service Policies and Strategies Office.
The session included permanent secretaries and establishment directors from the 36 states and the FCT, with the Director of Organisation Design and Development serving as secretary.
One of the key outcomes of the meeting was the approval of increased allowances for public service officers.
The report noted: “The rates of allowances paid to public service officers have been increased, and the Schemes of Service have been comprehensively reviewed to align with the Council’s approvals.”
