At the Abuja court, tension arose as lawyer Adeyanju confronted police prosecutor Ezala regarding a clandestine meeting with Magistrate Iyanna during the bail hearing for social media influencer Ijele, also known as Ofoegbu Chukwuma.
During the court session, Adeyanju voiced his intention to file a petition against police counsel Ezala for allegedly meeting secretly with Magistrate Iyanna, while the defendant’s lawyers were present in the courtroom.
Trouble began when Ezala went to the magistrate’s office for a private discussion, prompting Adeyanju to challenge her, citing unethical behavior.
Adeyanju expressed his discontent, emphasizing that it was inappropriate for the prosecution to have a covert meeting with the judge before the proceedings began.
“The matter is already before the court, and since you, as a lawyer, admit to meeting the ‘judge,’ no problem. Come and announce your appearance, and I will petition you for your actions,” Adeyanju stated firmly.
Ijele has been in custody since March 20, 2024, facing allegations of criminal intimidation, threat to life, cyber stalking, and cyber-bullying against Evangelist Ebuka Obi of the Zion Prayer Ministry Movement Outreach.
