Art has always been a powerful tool for storytelling, preserving cultural heritage, and sparking social conversations. The Babalakin & Co. Art Competition is more than just an exhibition—it is a movement that fosters creativity, provides a stage for young artists, and promotes Nigerian culture on a grand scale.
This year’s competition is open to young Nigerian artists aged 18 to 35, whether residing in Nigeria or in the diaspora. The initiative seeks to push boundaries, encourage artistic exploration, and honor the richness of Nigeria’s diverse traditions.
The 2025 Theme: “Tiwa n’ Tiwa”
The theme for this year’s competition, “Tiwa n’ Tiwa”, translates to “Ours is Ours” in Yoruba. It is a call to artists to delve into their personal experiences, memories, and perceptions of Nigeria. From nostalgic childhood scenes and historical reflections to contemporary social issues and future aspirations, artists are encouraged to present works that resonate with their unique Nigerian identity.
This theme invites participants to celebrate what it truly means to be Nigerian—through color, texture, and emotion—showcasing the essence of home, tradition, and self-expression.
Submission Guidelines
Artists working in Drawings, Paintings, and Sculpture are invited to submit up to three artworks for consideration.
Submission Period: 01 March – 31 May 2025
Submission Method: Artists should email high-quality images of their artwork to team@om234.art
Accepted Art Forms: Drawings, Paintings, and Sculptures ONLY
Each submission should align with the competition’s theme and reflect the artist’s personal interpretation of “Tiwa n’ Tiwa.”
Jurying and Selection Process
The competition will be rigorously judged by a panel of three independent jurors, ensuring fairness and high standards in the selection process.

Selected artworks will not only gain recognition but will also have the opportunity to be exhibited in a high-profile setting, increasing exposure for participating artists.
Award Night and Exhibition
Art lovers, collectors, and enthusiasts are invited to an exclusive Award Night on 01 July 2025, where the most outstanding works will be recognized.
Top 50 artworks will be exhibited and available for sale at Babalakin & Co. from 01 July – 30 September 2025.
This exhibition provides an incredible opportunity for artists to connect with art buyers, collectors, and professionals in the creative industry.
The competition is not just about showcasing talent—it is about creating lasting opportunities for artists to thrive and expand their careers.
A Commitment to Artists’ Success
Babalakin & Co. is committed to ensuring a seamless and professional experience for all participants. Insurance will be provided for all submitted and exhibited works, ensuring that artists’ efforts are safeguarded. However, artists are encouraged to arrange for the pickup of their artwork by the appointed date, as exhibited works cannot be removed before 30 September 2025.
While Babalakin & Co. will handle the security and care of exhibited pieces, they will not be responsible for any damage that occurs during transportation.
